Are there any Covid-19 related rules or restrictions?

The pandemic is not over, we please ask that you respect other people’s space and if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask please do so. Being in the open air and outside however does mean the risk is very low so every row will be getting picked and people are not required to wear masks. Just remember to please be respectful of eachother.

What’s it like to pick at an organic strawberry field?

The strawberries here are grown following organic standards though the farm is no longer certified organic. That means you’ll find bugs and weeds. It won’t be as tidy as what you might be used to. But you can rest assured that anything you eat from the farm is free of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and chemical fertilizers.

Can I bring my dog? (no) What about my kids? (yes)

Although we love them, please leave your dogs at home. Kids are welcome to come along.

How should I dress?

Please dress appropriately! Typically it will be hot, so bring a hat, sunscreen or long sleeves and pants. Don’t come in flip flops, the ground isn’t completely even and the pathways are full of straw. If it’s wet bring raincoat, and waterproof footwear. A bottle of water is always a good idea too. There are no refreshments on site.

How much does it cost?

The farm is only open during U-pick times. Please do not visit the farm if we are closed. See question #1 to find out hours as they change daily.

No, there is no washroom on site.

Went to Fat Chance this morning and picked 8 lovely litres of fresh, certified organic strawberries! Our little one filled his guts with these delicious treats, wonderfully warm from ripening up perfectly in the sun (us grown ups had to be sure to enjoy a few as well). When he’d grown bored of waiting for us to finish picking, there was a great little spot for him to hang out and play.

It was an absolutely sublime experience today. Thanks for everything Fat Chance Farmstead!
